Karen Kouagou Karen serves as the associate director focused on careers in government, not-for-profit/social impact, and International Development. She assists students with internship and job search strategies, resume feedback, mock interviews, and networking skills.
Karen has a broad international consulting background primarily in human resources in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, most recently as an executive recruiter at the World Bank. Throughout her career, which has spanned temporary staffing, executive search, private sector, multinational and outplacement companies, Karen has specialized in recruitment and training. Her global perspective has been enhanced by her experiences as a host family, university exchange student, and expatriate.
Karen holds a M.A. degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University and a B.A. from the College of William and Mary. She is a local member of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training & Research (SIETAR) and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). Karen co-founded the Benin Education Fund with her husband, Alphonse, in 1998. She has been an active member of the BEF board ever since, with a focus on special events and fundraising.
